  1. Readme for installation of the latest set of Graphics Blaster RIVA TNT 
  2. drivers
  3. =======================================================================

  5. This file consists of the following sections:
  6.  
  7.     I.  Installing the drivers in Windows 95
  8.     II. Installing the drivers in Windows 98
  9.  
  10. Proceed to the relevant section to install the drivers in your 
  11. operating system.
  12.

  15. I.  Installing the drivers in Windows 95
  16. ------------------------------------------
  17.  
  18. If you are using Windows 95, you need to know which version of Windows 
  19. 95 you are using before you proceed.
  20.  
  21. To find out the version of Windows 95 you are using:
  22.  
  23.   1.  On the Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon.
  24.   2.  On the menu that appears, click Properties.
  25.       The System Properties dialog box appears with the General tabbed
  26.       page displayed.
  27.   3.  Look at the entry under System.
  28.       If it states:     Microsoft Windows 95
  29.                4.00.950 B
  30.  
  31.       then you have the OSR2 version of Windows 95. 
  32.  
  33.       Older versions of Windows 95 will have either '4.00.950' or 
  34.       '4.00.950a'
  35.  
  36. Now, proceed to one of the following sections:
  37.  
  38.      A. To install the drivers in Windows 95 (Retail version)
  39.      B. To install the drivers in Windows 95 (OSR2 and later)

  42. A. To install the drivers in Windows 95 (Retail version):
  43.  
  44.    1.  Create a new directory on your hard disk (for example, 
  45.        C:\NEWDRV).
  46.  
  47.    2.  Copy the new set of Graphics Blaster Riva TNT drivers to this
  48.        directory.
  49.  
  50.    3.  Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click 
  51.        Control Panel.
  52.  
  53.    4.  In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon.
  54.  
  55.    5.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
  56.  
  57.    6.  Click the Change Display Type button.
  58.        In the Change Display Type dialog box, the entry Graphics 
  59.        Blaster Riva TNT is displayed in the Adapter Type box. 
  60.  
  61.    7.  Click the Change button next to this entry.
  62.  
  63.    8.  In the Select Device dialog box, click the Have Disk button.
  64.  
  65.    9.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, type the path where the 
  66.        new Graphics Blaster Riva TNT drivers are found (for example, 
  67.        C:\NEWDRV) and click the OK button.
  68.  
  69.    10. In the new Select Device dialog box, make sure that the device
  70.        Graphics Blaster Riva TNT is selected.
  71.  
  72.    11. Click the OK button.
  73.        The new Graphics Blaster Riva TNT drivers are copied to your 
  74.        system.
  75.  
  76.    12. In the Change Display Type dialog box, click the Close button.
  77.  
  78.    13. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Close button.
  79.     
  80.    14. When prompted to restart the system, click the Yes button.
  81.        After your system restarts, the new Graphics Blaster Riva TNT 
  82.        Windows 95 drivers will take effect.

  85. B. To install the drivers in In Windows 95 (OSR2 version and later):
  86.  
  87.    1.  Create a new directory on your hard disk (for example, 
  88.        C:\NEWDRV).
  89.  
  90.    2.  Copy the new set of Graphics Blaster Riva TNT drivers to this
  91.        directory.
  92.  
  93.    3.  Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click 
  94.        Control Panel.

  96.    4.  In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon.

  98.    5.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

  100.    6.  Click the Advanced Properties button.
  101.        In the Advanced Display Properties dialog box, the entry 
  102.        Graphics Blaster Riva TNT is displayed in the Adapter Type box.

  104.    7.  Click the Change button next to this entry.
  105.  
  106.    8.  In the Select Device dialog box, click the Have Disk button.
  107.  
  108.    9.  In the Install From Disk dialog box, type the path where the 
  109.        new Graphics Blaster Riva TNT drivers are found (for example, 
  110.        C:\NEWDRV) and click the OK button.

  112.    10. In the new Select Device dialog box, make sure that the device
  113.        Graphics Blaster Riva TNT is selected.

  115.    11. Click the OK button.
  116.        The new Graphics Blaster Riva TNT drivers are copied to your
  117.        system.

  119.    12. In the Advanced Display Properties dialog box, click the Close 
  120.        button.

  122.    13. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Close button.

  130. II. Installing the drivers in Windows 98:
  131. ------------------------------------------

  133.     To install the drivers in Windows 98:
  134.     
  135.     1.  Unzip the zip file containing the new drivers into a temporary
  136.         directory (for example, C:\NEWDRV) on your hard disk.
  137.  
  138.     2.  Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click
  139.         Control Panel.
  140.  
  141.     3.  In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon.
  142.  
  143.     4.  In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
  144.  
  145.     5.  On the Settings tabbed page, click the Advanced button.
  146.  
  147.     6.  In the Graphics Blaster RIVA TNT Properties dialog box, click
  148.         the Adapter tab.
  149.  
  150.     7.  Click the Change button.
  151.  
  152.     8.  In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click the Next
  153.         button.
  154.  
  155.     9.  Select the option "Display a list of all the drivers in a 
  156.         specific location, so you can select the driver you want".
  157.  
  158.     10. Click the Next button.
  159.  
  160.     11. Click the Have Disk button.
  161.  
  162.     12. In the Install From Disk dialog box, browse to the directory 
  163.         which contains the files you unzipped earlier.
  164.  
  165.     13. In the Open dialog box, select "gbtntw9x.inf" and click the 
  166.         OK button.
  167.  
  168.     14. In the Install From Disk dialog box, click the OK button.
  169.  
  170.     15. In the Select Device dialog box, make sure that the device
  171.         Graphics Blaster RIVA TNT is selected and click the OK button.
  172.     The new drivers are copied to your system.
  173.  
  174.     16. Click the Finish button.
  175.  
  176.     17. Click the Close button to close the Graphics Blaster RIVA TNT
  177.         Properties dialog box.
  178.  
  179.     18. Click the OK button to close the Display Properties dialog box.
  180.  
  181.     19. Restart your system.
